  • FRAUDULENT BILLING PRACTICES

    I have been charged both a monthly fee and an annual fee for TWO YEARS. Not only that, I was also charged 10 days prior to the annual expiration date! This does not happen in businesses that conduct proper annual audits and employ best business practices. Upon further research, I have discovered that this is apparently a common practice for NordVPN, as there are COUNTLESS reports from many customers online. In response to my first complaint, I was told that I would receive a refund within 7-10 business days. When I then discovered this had been happening for 2 years instead of just this year, I sent three more emails detailing the issue. I have received no response, which only goes to support my suspicion of intentional fraud. These shady business practices further lead me to suspect that the company’s claims of data security are likely fraudulent as well.

    I recommend you do not buy a year or more up front like I did. The app and speed worked so well for the free trial and the first week after buying a year sub then suddenly it’s really aggravating. I connect to the VPN and have no service and have to play with it and toggle it on and off and try diff servers to get it working and it’ll work for awhile until I have to repeat the process. Pretty much every time I pick up my iPhone to get online, if it’s been asleep for awhile, I have to go through a process to get it working. When it worked it was so fantastic, did exactly as it claimed. Now I’m regretting paying for a year of something that is so aggravating to use. I really hope updates return it to its prior ease of use. Easily a 5 Star app, even with an occasional hiccup, when it’s working; only giving it a three now because it still works but just not like it did when I first started using it.

    It started off good but once I paid for the subscription it took hours to connect to a server and now I am not able to connect to any server no matter how long I wait

    For two months in a row, Nord VPN has charge my account and then terminated my subscription. It’s always an issue trying to get it back activated. They charge you and then terminate your account. They take your money and provide nothing. This second time it’s been a whole week and they won’t reactivate my account. They keep wasting my time and I’ve gotten absolutely no service even though I payed. And the customer service is useless and a waste of time.

    Can't get a connection from mainland china to nearly any server with the exception. Have only connected once all day but what I've seen, it's pretty fast. Needs better gateways. Cheers. Joseph

    We’re very pleased with Nord. Performance and stability are excellent, and so is support. The only issue (and it’s a biggie for anyone who uses Amazon) is that you cannot connect to Amazon while using Nord. (Support says this is a “known issue”.)

    *Crickets* Bad business and unsupported. I have a useless tool for three years that leaves me having to find and purchase another option. Wasted money. Make sure you test out EVERY scenario within 30 days. This mean if you live in a city with free WiFi spots, make sure you go to EVERY spot within 30 days to make sure it’ll work. Sounds far fetched to do that right? Yep, that’s my situation. Maybe I could write the WiFi provider/vendor, “Hi, a product I bought to do VPN over your free WiFi isn’t working, can you change your infrastructure policy?” Of course after going through support where I repeatedly told them of my issues and them telling me to try more things, I’m finally offered a refund after submitting a review. Too bad that I’m now over 30 days. Here’s my background: I’m a Cyber Sec Analyst that needed a good and convenient VPN. Of course Nord worked in most of my situations, however, I think it’s crazy that ANYBODY would be able to test out every scenario in 30 days. So, I started my support case within 30 days, never got resolution or offered a refund, and now that I’m 2 months in to a 3 year paid contract, I’m told that I should request a refund through the same channel that originally didn’t help. This VPN service DOES NOT WORK on a widespread city provided wireless network in our downtown region. Which means, when I needed it most, it wasn’t able to provide the protection I needed. After being asked to wipe my Network Connections AND download OpenVPN (and trying several of the manual settings) with no luck, what was I asked to do? Download and try MORE of these settings (why wouldn’t I just pay for OpenVPN at this point if I now have to have TWO apps?). I’m sorry if I had better things to do than sit on support chat or respond to emails. It seems now that I’ve lost my $100/3 year plan and I’ll just delete the app and purchase another service. Piss poor really. I’m sure if I never had gotten a new client in my downtown district I would have had an issue, but now that I do have an issue, 30 days after and finally being offered a refund, it’s too late. I knew when this was going to happen when the first support person wasn’t able to solve my issues and responded that my issue was “weird” that I going down the rabbit hole. Support Case: 1634655 - the endless support case that never could. I’ll keep fighting the good fight I guess and work to solve a problem that I shouldn’t have. The solution offered also does NOT use the native app, instead, uses OpenVPNs backend with NordVPN profiles, which is also a manual connection that needs to be loaded individually. The last request is for logs and to try more recommended profiles, so, I guess I’ll update this review once all that’s been done.
