  • Don't waste your money

10 dollars waste for being able to listen to my podcast in my Apple watch. There is no option, I spent 10 dollars and still no option. I sent messages and Twitter twice to the developer with no response. I want a refund because it's a rip off.
  • Smart Speed MAKES this app

I’m a fairly avid podcast listener - my second favorite feature is that I can make smart playlists, like one that puts all my news podcasts together so they go one after another in the morning. What really makes me an Overcast devotee is the Smart Speed feature, which you can turn on for just some podcasts, turn off for specific ones, or leave on for all of them. Smart Speed finds places it can speed up your podcast without any real cost to listening quality. I save time without having to listen to hamster voices! I do think this feature could be improved, but my biggest gripe is that there is no way for me to see half-played podcasts, if I have to stop listening in the middle of one, I can’t sort them to put the ones I’ve started at the top. I’d really like an update which includes something to separate those episodes that I haven’t finished yet from the ones I have!
  • Please consider Google Casting capability before I switch to Casts

Hi - I love your app, I just want an app that will play throughout my google home-filled house and Casts does this very nicely - would you be able to please add this functionality? Update 6/18/18 - Casts is now my main podcast app and I am happy - will not be updating my subscription
  • The best out there.

In my opinion, there's no better pod app. Request: more icon options for paid users! Black and white for OLED screens would be amazing.

Much better than the one that comes with iPhones by default. My only complaint is that it is sometimes difficult to find episodes that I haven’t yet listened to in podcasts with many episodes, but it’s not a big deal.

Update: Still experiencing the same issue with our new car. Please fix! My favorite podcast app for years now, but I have issues using it with CarPlay. Pressing play on a podcast in All Episodes via CarPlay interface never actually plays. I have to press play on the phone instead. Please fix! Message me for more info. I’d be glad to help!

I won’t repeat the accolades that so many other reviewer‘s have given this app, suffice it to say that it is excellent and well worth the money. I deducted one star because I don’t like the podcast discover feature. It’s clever podcast discovery is tied to Twitter, but I would prefer something that is more akin to what the stock podcast app offers. There are new and trending podcast that I simply won’t ever hear about if I rely on Overcast.
  • Couldn’t be better, but it will be!

After a frustrating upgrade to iOS Podcast app, the answer appeared: Overcast. The extra features are what I needed. And, I can find and replay prior podcasts. Extra features are plentiful in the Settings. Such as ability to mass edit individual podcast settings. I remain an empowered podcast junkie. This review is uncompensated.
  • Preferred podcast app

First off, the reason i decided to write a review is because overcast doesn’t send a pop-up asking you to rate them. I appreciate that. I’ve used apple podcasts and i’ve used stitcher. Neither are very intuitive. Apple was my main app, but i got frustrated and looked for something else when it became too difficult even to get a podcast to play. I settled on overcast and i have no complaints. I’m almost always listening to podcasts so i spend a lot of time with the app. I like that overcast doesn’t do anything i haven’t set for it to do like recommend me podcasts. Very customizable too.

This does virtually everything the built in Podcasts app does, except that it actually does it all *well*, it isn’t full of bugs and won’t fill your phone up with un-deletable cache files like Apple’s own app does. It’s also faster, more visually appealing, more convenient (iPhone landscape mode!!! Almost fell out of my chair when I noticed it), and fully supports the Apple Watch (and very well, at that - it’s one of the few watch apps that does exactly what it’s supposed to, and quickly, and reliably). If Apple knew what they were doing they’d buy Overcast and make it the default podcast app on iOS. Edit, June 2018: I've had to deduct a star; this app is starting to go downhill. Drag and drop re-ordering of episodes has been broken for at least 6 months (I dread having to change a playlist sequence now), and now the latest update (which I foolishly tried in the hopes it would fix drag and drop) makes the app almost unusable on my iPhone 5S - constant crashes at startup and background crashing during playback if you open even so much as a second app. Apple Watch communication with the main app is still wonky and unpredictable. And why remove iPhone rotation mode? It can't have been a terribly difficult feature to maintain especially if the iPad still has it. I fear this one may be going the way of some of the developer's previous apps: losing his attention and on the way to being sold to a 3rd party who'll neglect it further.
