  • Almost 5 stars

Just got the iPhone Xs and paired the Series 4 watch to it. What doesn’t work? Volume slider does not respond on the watch. It’s there as an icon but not clickable. Annoying that I have to switch to “the now playing app” to adjust the volume > please correct. What could be improved? Process of importing podcasts to the watch. Apple did it the right way. As your app only supports audio podcasts, files are small. Apple podcasts automatically downloads (and keeps synchronized) a copy of a podcast to the watch when it’s on it’s charging cradle. Process is not invoked by the watch but a companion app (watch app). Could you implement something similar instead on clicking watch and phone icon (from Overcast watch app) back and forth to make it happen. Search (update animation). On the iPhone app there seems to be 2 refresh glyphs when you drag the finger down. One above the search (on top) and one in the body when podcasts are listed. A little redundant. Can’t be replaced with one? Overall nice update. Cheers -Adam
  • New version is laggy

    By Vulgar demos
I love this app but the new iOS and watchOS versions are a bit slow and laggy on Apple Watch series 2 and iPhone 6s Plus. I’m sure they perform better on newer machines but it’s not like mine are that old.
  • Was my favorite podcast app but

    By _kels
This was my favorite podcast app that I’ve tried but then it started crashing all the time. Now if I hit pause on a show and try to replay it after about ten seconds it will continue to play but the sound will cut out. Then I have to close the app and reopen it for it to work again. It also sometimes just crashes randomly but it’s mostly whenever paused. Since I listen to podcasts primarily at work, I can’t mess with closing the app and reopening it as often as it happens. For now I’m on the hunt for a new app. Unfortunate because then one was by far the best! I love being able to just add one episode or unsubscribe from new episodes but keep a podcast in my feed for a later time.

  • Awesome

This app has never asked for a review so I'm writing one. It's great, innovative and it's kind of cliche to say, but it picks its feature set and executes them very well. It's now my main podcast app. I love smart speed, love the playlist feature (despite thinking the idea of it sounded dumb),and it works and looks great. Update for v2. Lots of nice features. The new streaming working with smart speed has gotten me to install on iPad as well. The cloud syncing between devices is great. I would like to see improvements in the watch app. I would like a way to zap an episode to the watch so you don't have to bring your phone to keep listening while you walk or run. Developer is great about not doing annoying things like so many other apps. I'm proud to support this type of sustainable model. Update: haven't updated review in awhile. It's continuing to get better and better. If I had one complaint it is I wish overcast was available on appletv, and I wish the web client was more reliable. Update v3- dev continues to actively support and innovate. Still use and love the app every day. Makes the right choices for users! Update v5- good watch support is here! This has more to do with apple than anybody, but it finally is possible to take a watch without the phone, plus AirPods, and get your overcast podcasts. It auto syncs your recent podcasts to the watch which saves time of sending it one at a time. The app has saved me 257 hours due to smart speed, above the savings just from playing the podcasts faster. App still awesome and I love it!
  • Apple Watch Stuff Still Doesn’t Work, but Sound Features are Nice

    By Carolina Photographer
The big feature in this release of Overcast, was supposed to be the Apple Watch playback. Sadly, it still doesn’t work at all. I have tried to manually add podcast to my watch, and also tried the new “auto sync.” Neither work. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app countless times, and restarted my phone and watch almost as many. None of it helps (whether the watch is on its charger or not.) The sounds stuff (voiceboost, smartspeed) are still great, but if you want to listen to podcasts on your watch, look elsewhere.
  • A great app from a great developer.

Thanks for a great app Marco!
  • Great App

    By jamaican_fi_real
One of my most used apps. Really great. Very much worth the low subscription cost for added themes and continues developer support. One of this apps that’s constantly being improved is great and thoughtful ways. A great alternative to built in the podcast app.
  • Easily the best

Not much to say. Easily the best podcast platform I’ve found.
  • Great design, but persistent crashing

    By Chuckie88
This has been a rock-solid app, but after the latest release, it crashes frequently. I’ve experienced this on two different phones. Very annoying.
