  • Now this is the way to sightsee!

It was amazing! This was my first trip to SF, with my wife who grew up here, and we both thought it was an excellent way to sightsee and visit a lot of places in a short period of time: from Chinatown to Little Italy to Coit Tower, it sure beat taking one of those double decker buses, or walking around with a map. We thought it was very informative and entertaining, as well as seamless from a technological standpoint. We were very impressed, and can’t wait to take another “Detour”!

Description says Austin is available. It’s not.

It sounded like this app would have cool urban walks with a recorded guide. This was of interest to me as I don't know of any urban walks to take. Once in the app, there's no instructions. You can preview the walks. There is a cost to purchase the walk but I can't find a pricing list. You can create your own urban walk but it appears there is a $50 a month charge to use their comprehensive tools and hosting. Again, I'm a bit confused, I could be very wrong. Finally, it appears there are only 4 urban walks for Portland, Oregon. I recommend the creators of the app recruit and offer completely free usage to encourage knowledgeable locals to create the urban walks. Have a standardized price list for those of us that want to purchase a walk but include 1 basic freebie so we can get a feel for what the walk would be like. Very cool concept. I'd love to take guided urban walks with or without friends.

This app is great if you like learning facts about a place or going on tours but don't like being on other people's time or having to talk to anyone. I recently moved to Chicago and have been taking all the ones available here - love the Wrigleyville one especially! Nice easy way to learn about and experience new places - highly recommend for people into history.

We did the Haight Ashbury walking tour in San Francisco and it will be a highlight of our trip. The experience was fantastic. I've used the Rick Steves app a bunch in Europe and wished there was something for the US. I absolutely will be telling everyone I know about this app and even using it in my hometown. Huge highlight was the sharing feature so I could do a tour with my husband and not have to share headphones or try to sync.

Pleasantly surprised by this app and the walking tours. Minor preference improvements could be made but very well done!

Here's why! We had a blast in San Fransisco with this experience. I'll remember the tour for a long time. I wish there were some to do in the Detroit Area. I'd wait for each one to come out and take friends in town on them!

I was extremely impressed by how well this app works, the cool things I learned in a place I'd been many times, the GPS tracking feature, the mindful stops along the way for snacks or a bathroom break, the interviews with locals... all in all... I will be using this in the future when I travel to places rather than going on a group tour. LOVE how the GPS feature allows you to start and stop as you pease! Fantastic friend recommendation... in love! Keep adding more Detours, Detour Team!

The tour was awesome! I really really loved it and learned so much about my neighborhood. I was blown away by how well-done and produced it was. The storytelling was excellent- I will definitely be taking more detours.
