Description

Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel, the shortest path to real-life conversations in a new language. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence. The Babbel Method Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app: 1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language. 2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable. 3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context. I use Babbel and DuoLingo in tandem as part of a mission to keep all my high school and college French from going away. Babbel earns its monthly fee by being much more organic an experience compared to the latter's fairly random vocab quiz style. They both have their uses, but this is better for learning, while the other is useful for retention. The presentation is second to none here, and you feel like you're learning relevant statements at every turn. My only complaint is that, seemingly randomly, the voice recognition goes from laid back and understanding to absolutely draconian, and when it's the latter, and you're tweaking inflections on this syllable or that on your 20th try, it should tell you what part it doesn't like.

I try speaking into the microphone and it won't register that I'm speaking into it. And I say the word multiple times and keeps saying I'm wrong when I KNOW I'm saying it RIGHT!!!

I really like a lot of this app! You can do little bits everywhere and when you like But..... It does not continue where you left off very well! And the voice recognition is peculiar! Sometimes it just doesn't work, and sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to why you get the pronunciation wrong or right!!!

I've tried many on-line programs and even tutors - but this program is really helping me understand French and REMEMBER what I'm learning! Love it.
  • Babble beats Rosetta Stone!

I have used Rosetta Stone for 4 years and still could not put together a sentence correctly on my own. Babble teaches the much needed grammar and sentence construction that is desperately needed by other teaching methods. After spending thousands of dollars trying to learn a new language I am thrilled that I found Babble and finally got exactly what I needed! I highly recommend using Babble.
  • Good app, but missing the fun factor

I like the grammar parts compare to Duolingo, but the fun/gaming factor is not so good. The voice test failed quite often.
  • Definitely Three Stars.

Swedish audio pronunciation portion unable to recognise correct pronunciation of native Swedish speaker. Aside from this fault, thorough. I do prefer learning through Rosetta Stone but this is efficient also.

Vielen Dank, Babbel, for your German courses! They improved my confidence in writing and speaking German. It will only enhance my experience when I visit Deutschland.
  • Enjoying but...

I tried to contact app support but was directed to a free sample. I've already purchased the French learning program and am really enjoying the different learning styles. ➡️ But I have a suggestion for an update... it causes a lot of frustration when I keep getting a spoken translation back as wrong, yet there is nothing explaining further HOW to pronounce the words. If there was a phonetic side bar, that would be amazing! Merci 😉☺️
  • A great resource for learning a second language!

I have been studying Spanish with Rosetta Stone, Mango, Duolingo and I thought it would be redundant but in fact they each bring something different to the table. What I like about Babbel is the grammar that I may have missed the first go rounds because my brain was not ready for it but now that I am further along, the rules I missed along the way are sinking in with this app.
