Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence. THE BABBEL METHOD Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app: 1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language. 2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable. 3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context. the upselling was noticed.... especially after knowing vous et tu being formal and informal and the statement not being heard back... just vous et tu
  • Expensive

Firstly, this app like most other apps, throw you into the words. It’s great to start if you already have a bit of background, if not you’ll be lost. (Only if you try a course before creating an account-creating an account, it asks you to repeat the words or you can just listen to them) You get vocabulary AFTER you have to match words (at the end of the course-again-only if you haven’t created an account). Secondly, it’s expensive compared to other language app (i.e. Busuu $9.99/mo). This app charges $12.99 if you purchase monthly via their website and $15.99 if you purchase via the app. I use the monthly option because there are times when I get super busy and can’t always study. I do watch movies and listen to music in the language I’m learning (for ear training). I get the monthly option is usually mote expensive but that’s ridiculous! Third, where are the Asian languages? Only Indonesia is listed, no Japanese, Mandarin, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, etc. I’m not learning them now but I may want to in the future which would require another app. Fourth, which version of Norwegian? Norway had two version but the app doesn’t state which version you’re learning: Bøkmal or Nørsk. Fifth, there’s no way to see what percentage of the lesson/language you’ve learned -if you’re learning different languages from the language page. You’ll need to go to each language individually. Sixth, you can try one free lesson after creating an account, the rest require to purchase their expensive membership plan.
  • Not good on iPad

The concept is good but when you try to type in the answers you are not able to see what you typed and can’t turn the iPad to the tall direction it only rotates to the side use.
  • What a joke!

They claim 6 months FREE... but only with PAID subscription!!! How is that free??? I’m good with paying, but don’t tell me free when it’s not! Here are their exact words I received in an email when I complained about being asked to subscribe after less than 24 hours... “Our offers for six months free is only in conjunction with a paid subscription”

  • Changed my mind about languages

    By Fan59682
I’ve hated languages my entire life. And I do mean hate. This program slowed it down and chunked it out at the perfect pace. Plus the fact that they engage all your learning sensors. Auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Holy cow amazing.
  • Awful

So I’m trying to sign up and time after time it’s not working. Finally I get all my information to work. Then they want a credit card. Well that’s no surprise! But I’m sick and tired of these apps wanting money after they say they are free. So I try to enter my CC number and it won’t go through! Next I get an email from my CC for fraud alert, asking me to call immediately. So I do but in true fashion I can’t understand the accent the person is speaking in. So no my CC is probably shut off and might have to get a new one. Well I deleted the app. Great! Learned nothing but got a boatload of stress and still dealing with the stress. Have to call the CC company back tomorrow in hopes to get someone I can understand and hope that my credit card hasn’t been canceled. Thanks Babbel!!!
  • Good but not free

I don’t want to pay money for an app that I can find a better replacement for. There is good mechanics and lessons but overall, just don’t pay for it. Personally I would say if you don’t have money than use duolingo.
