  • A bit confusing

    There is a lot going on with this app. Yes it’s fun and colorful and you get to watch your “person” lose weight but it’s not the easiest app to understand how to use. There is to much going on.

    UPDATE: I spent the five bucks to try it on premium for one month. I can see that all of the problems I had with the free version are solved by paying for the premium version. However, I really don't think even if the app is extremely good, that I want to be paying $30 a year (or $60 a year if you go month by month for an app.) If u quick add a food, the calories register, but the nutritional info doesn't. So, when you check your nutritional summary for the day, it is way off. Also, i can't find any place to track water other than my water challenge. If I choose a different challenge, I don't know how I'll track water. Finally, if you logged a food eaten and forgot to classify that food as a meal or give it a name before you push done, it won't let you go back in to add it as a meal or give it a name.

    I love the set up of this app. It may seem silly, but dressing your avatar is kind of fun and watching on the belts that my weight is going down. The bank of foods is immense and I haven’t had a problem finding anything. And the list of exercises are all there that are of use me. Really helps me stay on track!
  • Good interface, but several issues

    The idea and setup for this app is great, and the premium version’s features make it worth the purchase. However, it has a number of unresolved kinks and bugs. There is no section for entering and storing recipes in this app, so I open My Fitness Pal to create recipes, get the calorie counts and macros, and then enter them into My Diet Coach- incredibly time-consuming relative to what it could be if My Diet Coach were to have the same recipe-processing feature as MFP. In general, the MDC food database could also stand to grow quite a bit- MFP’s is much more extensive. The MDC food diary also counts calories inaccurately. For some reason, it gradually starts to reduce the calorie counts of entries over time, after they are entered repeatedly. It’s been doing this the entirety of the year+ I have had this app, and it needs to be fixed. The entry in the diary will one day just appear with one calorie subtracted from its original count, and continue to subtract, requiring me to manually correct it, assuming I notice (e.g. 0.25c shredded cheese at 110 cal, after a few days will start showing up as 109 cal, then 108 the next day, and so on). I have emailed the app’s support contact about this, with no response. Finally, I cannot seem to delete photo thumbnails from my “Motivation” section. I have deleted all the pictures, but they still show up as thumbnails on the “Photos” page- then cannot be clicked on to zoom, since they are actually deleted. It would be nice to get the “Photos” page de-cluttered so that I can start over with new photos, and only see the thumbnails of the photos that are actually there.
