  • Enjoying it a lot

Unlike the previous reviewer who feels entitled to free knowledge at the hands of hard working language app developers, I am enjoying the app a lot. I can do a few lessons when I have time each day. I have tried learning German for the past 30 years and understand some, but have a desire to learn more. I have Rosetta Stone, but actually like this more. I was reluctant to buy Babbel, but feel I'm getting better already in the past 3 weeks. The German friend I text with most frequently has noticed an improvement as well. Now the constructive criticism: The voice recognition lessons are a bit frustrating. Although I know I am pronouncing sentences correctly, it often times "fails" me. (Sensitive to background noises maybe?) When I use the keypad and switch to the Number/Symbol pad, the key to switch back to "ABC" still shows ".?123". This should be corrected in a future update. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

I was impressed with the teachings and I felt that this would really help me, but then I realized that I had to pay for all the lessons. I was sad when I learned that I would have to pay to learn a language when it should be free!

After finishing most of the beginner courses, I must say that this app is very engaging and makes learning another language. You could even say that Babel ist sehr gut!

The Babbel method of teaching languages is amazingly effective and it is designed to make the process of learning so much fun that I actually await every lesson with great expectations that are always fulfilled.

Babble has helped me a lot with German, which is great, but when I went to course 2, it said you had to pay monthly for the rest of it. Based on the rating, I thought every things was going to be free. I still would recommend it though.
  • Waste of money

Paid for the app and every log in still asks to pay for subscription. Complete garbage and waste of money.

Great App! I'm going to Germany in September and wanted to learn some basics. Very good price for what you get. I spend 1/2 - 1 hour on lessons every morning and am coming along well. I have a Apple iPhone SE and 4th Gen iPad have had no issues.

Every new lesson segment crashes. Unusable on my device (iPhone SE).

Most of the features are not accessible in the free version. The very first level for instance, has 23 lessons..only 1 of which you can access for free. Not much point..

Good concise exploration of the grammatical bones. But sticks to a small scope of vocabulary to illustrate the points, so in the end u have very little to say. Would greatly benefit from an expanded vocabulary module. Also - pacing is very very slow and stilted. Works for beginners but intermediate speakers may feel frustrated
