First of, I love Viber~! This comment is a “make it or break it” issue call. It isnt fair to give my fave app a 1-star for it. Thus, I am giving it 4 stars as the problem is orthogonal to how much I love the app, hoping Viber PMs pay attention. Viber is one of the most used apps on my cellphone, not because its video quality is dramatically better than other (quite comparable actually), but how the overall package is put together. I love staying in touch with my many overseas friends and relatives, in private or group or secret chats. Over the last year or so, however, I realized to have accustomed to only use Viber when in office or at home or within reach of power source; and really have started opting to other video apps when on the go. Nothing scientific per se as I haven’t measured precisely ~ I’d say compared to other 3-4 popular apps in circulation (that I wouldnt mention here), Viber tends to noticeably deplete battery fastest; at times, with friends we concluded possibly 2x faster than the next app we use. Even all my new friends that notice this right away are quick to suggest either audio-only or propose we switch to another app if they too are on the go and need to save juice. The phone can get hotter around the video camera area, as well. Yet, I always tend to come back to it as my go-to video chat app, to be honest. And I have several little thoughts to mention about improving the app, yet this one is a big one and a dealbreaker for many of us. I am sincerely hopeful Viber product management reads this comment and takes this seriously; in evermore connected and mobile world you do not want to loose consumers for suboptimal video h/w utilization. Quality comes first of course, and this one ia affecting quality of the phone service overall. Kind regards, MG
