The articles are good but the app is bad.

I pay for a subscription, therefore I expect fewer ads than come with his app. It often shows the same ad over and over in a relatively short story. In short, it makes reading annoying and frustrating. Charge me more if you need to, but please give us an option to turn off the ads. NYT can do better.

Latest update won't open to main page - instead, opens to center of text of an article. This is an expensive subscription, so please fix pronto. Update: fixed in the next update. Thanks for being responsive.
  • Strong content, limited app functions

NYT will always score points for journalism and content, but the app isn’t as cleanly organized and easy to navigate as it can be. One big miss: option to share an article in Chinese or any other language. The feature is available on its mobile and desktop versions but missing in its app. Also, no ads for paid subscribers please! It makes the interface unpleasant to use. I only read on the app if I have no other options. Ads are disruptive to a smooth user experience.

NY Times needs to restore app paralleling print version page format.
  • 1/2 Page Ads Ruin the Experience

Don’t get me wrong, I love the NY Times and am very willing to pay the subscription for great journalism. The experience of having 1/2 of the screen taken up by ads is extremely annoying and makes me want to scream. How many times do I need to scroll past slippers as I’m reading about chemical attacks in Syria. Ridiculous and demeans the quality of the publication. I’m all for supporting a quality profitable enterprise, but this makes me want to cancel my subscription and just get news from other sources. UPDATE: I’m just deleting the app. It’s horrible. 2/3 of pages are ads. Advise you just use the browser. If it weren’t for the content and my desire to pay for quality journalism, I’d be long gone.

I have surfaced from the flood of social media and have shed my Facebooks in lieu of a selection reputable apps covering my concerns. NYT is my prominent source of real news and I gladly pay for their integrity.
  • Over priced, and Ads

Why do I have to pay $15 a month for an ad filled newspaper? I also don’t enjoy the fact that they constantly give these low ball deals for like $5 a month. Again, why must I pay $15 for the service? I have paid the same amount for at least two years. I’m in my 20’s I’m not rich, plan on deleting soon. I get ads for revenue but maybe you should focus ads on the students you give free access to or people who pay $5 a month.
