  • In App purchases begin too soon

Maybe there’s a beginner’s guide that I missed that tells you that every screen tap burns energy, and that buying more energy - or waiting 4 minutes between taps- is what has to happen for play to progress. The graphics are nice, the sound is not intrusive, and any chance to revisit Hogwarts is welcome, BUT play is going to be choppy for those of us unwilling to start shelling out so soon into a game. Oddly enough, the “rate this game” pop up appeared right before the first buying opportunity showed on screen. I rated it a 5. I’m changing it to a 2. Edited: more opportunities to earn lives is nice- thanks for that. Edited: Year 4, Chapter 10 “PLEASE BE PATIENT”???!!??? So the app isn’t finished? Seriously?
  • Great game, but much to be desired

All together the game is perfect, but it has a few features that are either missing or unnecessary. For example, the game really needs a new game/reset progress. A lot of players either choose the wrong house or don’t like their story’s direction. I also think actions should take less energy. If it, players should have faster filling/a higher amount of energy. I think limiting gameplay makes players abandon the game since it basically makes the game a waiting simulator. Other than that the game is great and can’t wait for new features.
  • Gameplay Mechanics

    By Jakofspadea
As a Harry Potter fan, I was excited to learn about this app; However, there are way too many issues about the gameplay mechanics that it is discouraging, if not practically unplayable. True it is free to download and “free to play”, but unless you are willing to pay for micro transactions, be prepared to stress yourself out. As in most games, you are able to complete actions using energy; when you perform actions you loose energy, and overtime it replenishes automatically. However, unlike most games, the rate at which the energy depletes is astonishing. If you are participating in a class, you perform ridiculous actions like “Tell so and so a Joke” or “glare” and “rest” all which costs an energy point. And if that wasn’t bad enough, it requires you to give 2-5 energy bars to complete that one “task”-Which leaves 10 other tasks to be completed to move on. So then you have to wait an hour or more for your energy to replenish itself, to spend it all in less then 30 seconds. I should also mention that the free gem websites are a scam. Don’t try it.

    So good
  • Warning: this game is incomplete!

I’ve spent hours enjoying this game only to be stopped cold in year 4 chapter 10. The developers chose to release an unfinished product with no warning and no timeline on when or if it will ever be finished. Buyer beware!
  • Love This Game!

    By Hermy and Grawp
I have been playing this game since it first came out! It has amazing quality and great features. I don’t think you could call it a RPG though, because the choices are a bit limited, but it still is worth it! I liked the way you added energy because it limits your game time. On the of hand, it takes a really long time to load more energy. I loved the pet update and how you can eat food with a friend!

I love this app. It’s a pretty simple point and click, but I still feel drawn into the wizarding universe! It’s seriously good. Download it. Download it right now. That being said I do have two things I think could easily be fixed. One is maybe linking to the pottermore sorting hat quiz instead of having the person chose their own house, and second is fixing the scales animation. It should end equal and start unbalanced- which is the opposite of what is happening in the game currently. It’s a slight detail but it bothers me lol.
  • So close! But not quite there.

This game has so much potential to be the best app ever created, but there are so many missed opportunities. The most noticeable to me is the lack of actual gameplay. 90% of this game is just tapping your finger to get through the classes as fast as possible. The classes are extremely repetitive with you having to cast lumos to see in a dark corner, stirring a potion, and polishing and summoning your broom. I feel like once you learn the basic lessons in chapter 1 you shouldn’t have to keep going through them in future lessons. Not to mention having to wait hours for you energy to recharge. Steps to make the game more interactive have been taken, but it’s still not all the way there yet. My biggest hope is that quidditch matches are added. Not matches where you find yourself tapping the screen constantly and reading what is taking place, but flying your broom and going after the golden snitch yourself. I don’t know if it’s possible, but it would make for one hell of a game. Overall, as a Potter fan I can’t not play the game, and there are some parts that are entertaining, but there is still much to be desired.
  • The Harry Potter app

I really love and enjoy playing this game. I feel as though I am in the wizarding world when I play which is what I have always wanted. I also appreciate how much detail is put into the game. But, there are a couple requests that I would hope are taken into consideration. First off, the whole energy situation. I sure most who play this game are disappointed with how quickly our energy is used up. How this could change is possibly making the time it regenerates quicker and making the amount you can have higher. Secondly making Snape a little nicer; I know that’s who his character is but I definitely know he doesn’t openly insult students every time he talks to them. That one is a little less important but I just thought I would put it out there. Lastly, I really really want Quidditch to be put in the game because it is such an important part of the whole story and it would be incredibly fun to play. In conclusion, I think that the game is very entertaining and needs some improvements. Much support.
