  • Horrible interface.

Too many clicks to do anything, interface’s confusing. Assumes you know via picture who everyone is and what they do. Really some of us do not. We have a life I don’t spend our time on media. When trying to look at the library it’s slow to load and floats. No indication of who is who and what is what Until you highlight and then it gives you a name. The life expectancy of the app on my iPad is just about zilch. I’m going to give it one more try and then off it goes. If you see one star that means it failed the test. I’ll stick to watching it on the computer
  • Loving Margaret Atwood

The Master class program is so good. As an aspiring writer, I signed up to learn from Margaret Atwood and was not disappointed. She has so much wisdom and such a good humored positive vibe, it feels like soaking up encouraging direction from a great teacher. I am thoroughly inspired and motivated by her lessons. I was not surprisingly, but equally as impressed with all of the other teachers. Being creatives as well, they have a wealth of knowledge and encouragement that spans genres, imparting the kind of kindly advice you would want to receive from a good friend. Thank you for this wonderful addition to my education.
  • Great design, idea, and implementation, just one thing...

I’m so close to buying the annual full pass but was disappointed to see there is only one class on science and technology, I feel like there could be a lot more in this genre from mathematicians to theoretical physicists and all manner of possibilities. Add at least one or two mentors to this section and it’ll push me over to subscribe, over all great application!

  • Adding Computer Science Course

I want them to add Python, Java, JavaScript, C++, C, Haskell, Ruby, and mannnnnnny more programming languages. Also, can they add A.I. and Machine Learning courses. And other computer science related simple to advanced topics.
  • Great concept BUT...

First of all I love the production value of MasterClass. It’s really one of the best tutorial sides and learning platforms out there. Visually pleasing it’s professionally produced. But content is king. I have a big problem with the entire masterclass program in general: so far I have done about five different MasterClass series in different fields. They all have one common flaw. Instead of teaching you really specific tactics or skill sets they teach you just general concepts. For example when you take the class on political campaigning there is video about whether or not you should have a website. Duh, of course you need a website. Right? Or “you need a social media strategy”. Such advise is highly unhelpful. the question is what type of site you need or how do you create a social strategy that will win or what resources can help to learn the tactics and specifics. The same is true for example for the photography course with Annie Leibovitz . She tells you how important light is when taking pictures but nowhere does she go into details how to light a specific subject or how to light in different situations. There is a re-enacted photo shoot but she doesn’t share really her thinking process the decisions that get her those stellar results. Everything you will learn is just very general and conceptual without going really into detail. Rather you should really learn from specifics. For example, it would be much better if masterclass would join Ron Howard on a real set, how does he talk to the producer, the talent, or the pre production meetings. Or join Axelrod at real meetings with his politician clients hatching out campaign strategies. those would give us real life situations from whom we can learn. Similar to an apprenticeship. And apprenticeship is something where you learn directly from the professional hands on every day. The Wolfgang Puk classes are very detailed because cooking by nature is step by step hands on. I would love the masterclass team and show writers to create the other shows with the audience in mind, asking the question what skills do we want our audience to walk away with and produce them accordingly.

This is an excellent resource to get into the minds of all kids of artists and influencers. I’m enjoying it a lot. I specifically got the membership for the writing aspects, but I’m positive I’ll do more.
  • Engrossing lessons

I find these lessons feel like, a one on one, face to face, engrossing conversation. My interest is caught and kept. There have been numerous instances when a question pops into my mind and within a short period of time the answer appears. The thoroughness of the subject and the building of the lessons really help my comprehension. So many of the subjects listed are subjects I have wanted to learn about. Very happy I found Master Class. Will be a Master Class student for a long time.

Put in my email to browse the content prior to in-app purchase. Decided not to purchase. Received spam emails from Master Class every day after that until I unsubscribed. Poor behavior.

I spend the $90 for Gladwell’s course and then I have to get a subscription to The NY Times and the New Yorker if I want to do the exercises? His lectures are decent, but they only provide a few of the required readings. Incredibly frustrated with this. Just another money grab with no recourse.
