    Great music You Tube Thanks!
  • What in the world, YouTube?

    By Thebest321
Why would I have to pay to listen to my music in the background? I’m going on a very long trip, Florida to Pennsylvania, and I I need music music and battery!! Without being able to turn off my phone and listen to music at the same time, this app is completely worthless. Just please answer my prayers and let this happen. I would understand why I would need to pay for the rest of the things you offer, but background play????? Come on YouTube, I’m gonna go broke!! 😡😭
  • Not a helpful app unless you pay for YTRed

    By Debiru~
Basically it’s just a reformatted version of the original app and there’s no reason they couldn’t just incorporate it into the original app. If you pay for background play I could see this being helpful, but not much more than the original app.

So why not just keep YouTube ?
  • A hit for independent creators

Before this update YouTube Music used to be one of the best music apps out there. It offered ONE feature no other app could match. While some people may have stayed for the nice interface and others b/c the YouTube red plan is convenient, I stayed for the wide variety of music they offered. I’ve always liked “underground” artists and creators who never really got as famous as others more than Pop and Rap and YouTube Music was a haven for independent creators. You liked a cover X did of this song? How bout this remix? Spotify never had those for me but YouTube music presented them on my front page assorted with an ever evolving playlist of songs I ACTUALLY like, ready for my next return and this is why I loved YouTube music. But now YouTube music is trying to shove what’s mainstream down our throats. Hell, there’s a hot tab for a reason! Keep all your other stuff out of my home tab and bring back what I really enjoy! I feel like YouTube music has taken a step backwards in trying to imitate the design of SoundCloud and trying to be more like Spotify. You all had a great app going that a lot of people enjoyed, so just bring back the old YouTube music. For now I’m left with no music app and forever cursed to see “New Releases” at the top of my home page
  • A comparison

    By BloxStar180
When I saw YouTube Music, I thought it was a response to the popularity of Spotify. So I decided to compare the two. Keep in mind this review is coming from someone hasn’t purchased any paid features Probably the best things on YouTube Music are music videos, since of course YouTube is all about video. Another great thing is the ability to hook up your Google account, as well as the time it took, which was almost instant. The ads were a lot better than Spotify’s, most of the time allowing you to skip it after 5 seconds, just like regular YouTube. Unlike Spotify, where you were forced to sit through 30 seconds of ads without the ability to skip. However, YouTube Music gives you more freedom over the music you choose unlike Spotify, which has a ton of forced shuffle playlists. But this is where thing immediately go for a turn for the worst. YouTube Music’s most major flaw is the fact that you can not listen to your music outside of the app. Every other major music software allows you to listen to music in the background for absolutely free. Heck, even SoundCloud’s mobile website allows you to listen to music with the browser in the background. What’s worse is the software’s premium features. Spotify’s premium service was bad enough, costing $10 USD a month ($5 USD/month for college students). But YouTube Music makes you pay $13 USD/month for even less features. I find these flaws so major, it had to make me cross off a lot of stars. In my personal opinion, I find YouTube Music as a modification to YouTube itself, and just a response to Spotify. If you’re looking for a good music program, I would totally suggest downloading Spotify, despite it’s flaws.
  • Needs a lot of work!

I have encountered many bug with this app such as not letting me listen to certain songs that show up when searched but just won’t play. This app also needs better organization and more quality options. Please update.
  • Love it - algorithm keeps my taste in music recurring

I like this service a lot.
  • The free month is not free!!!

    By joegarza5
I like YouTube music but the free month is lies!!! I will be getting into further contact with them but I had to leave a review about this. They advertise a free month of YouTube music every single time u get on and I finally decided to give it a try. I said why not it’s a free month see how it go. ($2 is in my account) so I get it and 2 days later they charge me!! Over drafted me on my card now, I can’t believe this bs. Don’t advertise a free month then when u do it u wanna tell ppl well we’re gonna take it now and if u wanna cancel we got u. What the hell. What’s the free month? I don’t see how this works at all
  • Playlists

    By JunoCee
I love the app, but the only thing missing is the ability to add an entire album to a playlist! Otherwise, back to Spotify!
